Arlan has served Covington families as a greeter and removal technician since April 2011. He is a retired Greek and New Testament professor from Fort Wayne Bible College-Taylor University. He and his wife, Sally, attend Life Community Church, where he teaches Bible study class on a regular basis.
Arlan was raised on a Central Illinois farm and moved here to attend Fort Wayne Bible College in 1959. After completing his studies there in 1964, he attended Fuller Theological Seminary in California and returned to Fort Wayne Bible College as a professor four years later.
For 39 years he worked at the college, which became known as Taylor University in 1992. After retiring in 2007, he started working for local auto dealers bring cars to the area from auctions and other dealers within a 300-mile radius.
He and his wife, Sally, have two sons living in Fort Wayne, two daughters (one in Nashville and one in Chicago), and five grandchildren. His hobbies include traveling and gardening, and his wife, who is a retired teacher, volunteers in the elementary school library where all four of their children attended.
